WHY WE DO IT

Creating smiles inside and outside our practice.

Aligning orthodontics with social and environmental initiatives. We want to give back to our community, and our Earth.

We try our best to select consumables and products that are easier on our environment. We provide pro bono treatment to those most in need, and support community groups that are doing great things locally.

While we will always be committed to bringing the latest orthodontic braces and Invisalign treatments to our Mount Maunganui, Papamoa, Otumoetai, Te Puke, Whakatane and wider Bay of Plenty patients, we hope to create as many smiles outside of our practices as we do inside of them.

If you know of a community group in Papamoa, Mount Maunganui, Tauranga, Whakatane or surrounding areas, that would align well with us, we would love to hear about them!

Bamboo Toothbrushes

We want to reduce the amount of plastic in landfills, so we are starting by providing colourful and ‘fun’ compostable bamboo toothbrushes.

Less plastic in landfills, making toothbrushes accessible to anyone, providing profits of every toothbrush sale to local community groups – we think it is a good start!

Smartass Toilet Paper

Our practice only uses Smartass tree-free toilet paper.

Smartass is toilet tissue made from 100% renewable sugarcane and bamboo fibres that are free of bleach, inks, dyes and perfume. So it’s kinder to the planet that grew it.

“Smartass donates 10% of profits to Million Metres – helping Kiwi communities plant native trees for healthy rivers, improving water quality and enhancing freshwater biodiversity”.

Innocent Packaging

If we can, we only use Innocent Packaging at The Orthodontic Hub for our disposable supplies.

Innocent Packaging is a New Zealand company producing sustainable packaging options. Every one of their coffee cups, cold cups, clamshells, plates, bowls, boxes and lids are made from plants – yep, plants.

Wish For a Smile Trust

The Orthodontic Hub provides specialist orthodontic treatment to children with a serious need, who would otherwise be unable to afford it. As part of the Wish For A Smile Foundation, Gareth and his team treat a number of complex cases for free each year.
